Leah Salomaa is a Vocalist, Musician, Composer, Children's Music Education Specialist and Teacher.
She has a professional background in Acting and Dance.
Her training and career began as a child where she would perform with her mother in folk festivals, churches
and schools. By age 8 she was filming television commercials, t.v. guest spots, movies and appearing in large scale
productions on major stages in her native Toronto, Canada. She has appeared in productions at the Humming
bird Theatre by the Canadian Opera Company and Andrew Lloyd Webber, as well as Modern Dance pieces
at the Premiere Dance theatre by Robert Dorosiers. and Danny Grossman.
Starting as a child, she trained in ballet with the directors of Opera Atelier, violin and classical voice through
the Royal Conservatory of Music (with Honors).
In recent years she has enjoyed fusing her theatrical background with her love of traditional music by
working as an in demand studio vocalist appearing in television/radio drama and feature film scores that call for ethereal,
emotional singing such as:
Relic Hunter (television), Away (CBC Radio), Altarpiece (short film), The Marsh (feature), Jane and the Dragon (Animation),
Happy Birthday (documentary), Toyota (Industrial/Commercial) and Expecting (feature film).
She has composed music for stage and short film with such credits as: "Patience" (Jason Sherman, Tarragon Theatre, Dora
Award Winning Original Production), "Under Her Heart" (Livia Daza-Paris Dance Company), "Happy Birthday" (Living Arts
Film-Documentary).
Currently she is a company member of "Jeans N'Classics", a pop's program with Orchestra London, fusing
rock music with symphony orchestras around North America. Through this program Leah has toured North America
as a soloist (and harmony) vocalist with Orchestras such as: The Edmonton Symphony, The Everett Symphony,
and Orchestra London performing on stage with legendary Canadian artists such as:
Rik Emmett (Triumph), Lorraine Segatto Parachute Club) and Alan Frew (Glass Tiger).
She has had the pleasure of performing solo pieces by some of her mentors such as: Kate Bush, Cindy Lauper and
Sinead O'Connor.
She has recorded three of her own Family oriented cds. All recordings are available on here.
